The 2026 Winter Olympics will be in Italy this February, and all the pre-Olympic buzz has me dreaming of ski season.

With 2026 set to be the most spread out Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games ever, there are plenty of chances to see the action. Whether you’re looking to catch an event (figure skating is on my bucket list) or plan a ski vacation of your own, I can help.

Milano Cortina 2026

Every trip is the perfect trip to use a travel advisor, but if there were such a thing as the most perfect, it would be for travel to this year’s Winter Olympics in Italy. The hotel inventory in Northern Italy for this season’s event is a small fraction of what it was in Paris last summer. Plus, sponsors and package operators control the majority of that inventory. This means tricky logistics—which is where a travel advisor comes in handy.

Maybe you’re set on seeing freestyle skiing or snowboarding. We might have better luck locking in accommodations just across the Swiss Italian border vs. focusing on Livingo. Prefer easy logistics? Head to Milan for ice hockey, speed skating, or figure skating—where hotel options are plentiful and travel between events is simple.

Ski-in/out favorites

• Sunshine Lodge (Ikon Pass) is the only ski-in/out hotel in Banff. In January, rates start as low as $264 per night.
• Magic Megève Bois (Ikon Pass) at the foot of Mont d’Arbois in France follows the Magic Collection’s classic formula: a heritage building artfully transformed. In January, rates start at 640 EUR per night.
• Ki Niseko (Ikon Pass) boasts an onsen fed by natural hot springs with contemporary design—all steps from the world’s most famous powder skiing. In March, nightly rates start around $1,200.
• The Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe Vermont (Epic Pass) is one of the East Coast’s only luxury ski-in/out resort options. In February, rates start as low as $390 per night.
• Les Airelles Courchevel (Epic Pass) is a Palace Hotel, a distinction exclusively granted to French hotels considered a category above 5-star. In March, rates are around 3,000 EUR per night.

For Families: Club Med has more than 20 mountain resorts around the world including in Canada, France, Italy, Japan, and China. Ski passes and lessons are included for all age groups and levels.

New opening: One & Only Moonlight Basin This year-round resort, set to open mid-November 2025, will be One&Only’s first property in the US. It’s about an hour from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) and offers private, heated gondola access to Big Sky Resort, which is included on the Ikon Pass.

Canadian Ski

If not Banff or Mont-Tremblant, Whistler Blackcomb (Epic Pass) is the largest ski resort in North America. Its two mountains offer all levels, from beginner runs to legendary backcountry slopes, making it the perfect choice for families or groups. Plus, the charming pedestrian-only village lends itself well to lively après-ski evenings. I love the Fairmont Chateau Whistler or the Four Seasons.

For the intrepid skier

Sweden is a bucket-list destination for off-piste skiing (which means you’re not skiing on prepared runs). Riksgransen’s location allows you to ski in Sweden, Norway, and Finland in the same day. Getting there is easy by plane and train, which is recommended over driving because of its remote location.

​Expert tip: Take the night train up from Stockholm—an experience in itself. And because winter has limited daylight, opt for spring skiing. Most years see skiing well .
